In its meeting last night at Club Filipino. the Association of Firearsms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines (AFAD_ joined hands with the FED, and its allied support organizations Philippine Practical Shooting Association, PNP-Public Information Office, and the United Airsoft Alliance (UAA) in condemning the recent spate of robbery and shooting sprees in Laguna.
Specifically, the group came to a consensus that the public should be made aware that knee jerk reactions to such crimes such as gun bans and heavier restrictions on firearms are not the solution to violent crime. the FED gave its statistics that of the 5000 or so instances when crimes were committed with firearms, 99% used unlicensed firearms.
The group intends to conduct a media information campaign to counteract the efforts of groups such as the Gunless Society, in exploiting these unfortunate incidents for political purposes.
Members of the press such as the Manila Bulletin and the PNP-PIO were likewise present.
